COMO Susan Davies: ANACO-IT


Susan Davies joined the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in January 2012 and is currently serving as Assistant National Commodore, Information Technology (ANACO-IT).  She has previously served as Flotilla Commander, Flotilla 054-25-12 Arlington VA, and has served in various Flotilla Staff Officer positions.  She is a qualified Vessel Examiner and previously qualified Boat Crew Member.  In addition to her National Staff position as ANACO-IT, Ms. Davies is currently serving as the Flotilla Staff Officer for Information Services and the Flotilla Staff Officer for Finance.
Ms. Davies' path to the National Staff began in 2013 after she became Flotilla Staff Officer for Information Services.  Bob Platt, a great mentor for all the IS Officers, recommended Ms. Davies join the National Staff User Support and Services Directorate.  Her application was accepted and she joined the staff as Branch Chief for the Help Desk Knowledgebase.  The mentorship continued with Division Chief Harry Dyer and Director Jan Munroe.  In 2016 Ms. Davies was encouraged to apply to be Director, User Support and Services, and following acceptance she served successfully in that position for two years under the mentorship of COMO Linda Merryman.  In 2018 Ms. Davies applied for and was accepted as ANACO-IT, where she continues to serve today.
Ms. Davies is a retired U.S. Navy Captain and former Commanding Officer of Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron THREE (VQ-3), an airborne communications squadron.  Her qualifications included navigator, communications officer instructor, and mission commander evaluator.  Following retirement from the U.S. Navy in 2005, she was a defense consultant at WBB Consulting in Reston, VA.  She consulted on a wide variety of projects across the Federal sector, with a focus on Defense and Homeland Security.  Ms. Davies left WBB in 2011 to pursue her interest in boating and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Ms. Davies graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management Science.  She also has a Master of Arts degree in National Security Strategy from National Defense University, and a Master of Science degree in Oceanography (Meteorology emphasis) from the Naval Postgraduate School.
