Sherry Kisver joined the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in June 1986. Presently she holds the positions for D1SR of District Directorate Chief- Logistics, Civil Rights Coordinator, Branch Chief Uniform Division (Atlantic East,) Flotilla Commander, and SO MT, SO NS. She is also Boat Crew qualified, a USCGAUX Academy Partner and staff at DIRAUX. As a past Flotilla Commander, Division Commander, and District Captain, she has accumulated the knowledge to lead others in this rewarding organization. Always a mentor to all she has guided new members through the process of enrollment, helping them to become operational and including them in the many events hosted within the Sector NY AOR.
During the year events, some that stand out are Night Out for Safety, Fleet Week (assisting on the vessels,) as well as patrols with the Fleet entering the harbor for FLEET WEEK Exercises, the 5 Boro Bike Tour, and The New York City Marathon.
Education is the leading passion. Sherry has and continues to instruct at the LDA (Leadership Development Academy,) as well as New Member workshops at D Train. This year we were challenged -but Zoom made it possible to continue education for our members. She was able to instruct a new program titled "Staff Officers College."
She is a licensed New York City Department of Education Teacher retired, also taught Education at a local college, and continues to teach today for a private school. She holds a Master of Science Education Degree as well as 30 credits above. Not only is Sherry an active member but her husband Steve and son Gregory, are also active members.
